It smells like medicine right now — I wonder what the previous owner used it for — but I assume with enough airing and maybe some hot water (or perhaps alcohol?) it will clean up just fine…

Beautiful.
Thanks đ
is that a silver kettle? I can’t tell
Aha! Somebody finally asks the question đ
The answer is — no, it is not a silver kettle. In fact, it’s a “pure tin” kettle. Purity is pretty high here — pewter will be a lot duller in character and not have the shine it does here. The little finial though is nephrite jade, which is nice…
you are mad.
i love tea. (:
I’m sure this will be covered in later posts, but how does it effect water? I used to have a tin kettle that imparted a slight sour note to water if it was boiled for too long.
@trentk –
I have no idea, actually, and will try it out at some point. I won’t be surprised if it affects water negatively — this piece was purchased mostly for aesthetic purposes. I didn’t really have tea making in mind.
I happen to be drinking some hot tea when I saw your blog on that side promote thing. Great blog. Glad I saw it. Take care and God Bless.
p.s. Nice tea pot.
